MANILA, Philippines – With the recent announcement of Dr. Vicki Belo's engagement to controversial partner, Hayden Kho, Jr., her son, director Quark Henares, simply could not contain his opposition to the couple's plan.

Articulating his dislike for Hayden, Quark told “Showbiz News Ngayon” on July 8,

“Isipin mo, number one, your mom will date someone na number one... your age. Okay? Number two, niloko ka na. Number three, not only did he cheat on you, may video pa. Number four, lumabas (ang video). Maraming puwedeng masira. Number five, nag-suicide attempt na. Would you want your mom to marry this man?”

However, the director is resigned to the fact that the wedding will eventually push through. “Tinanggap ko na ‘yon. I just don’t want him (Hayden) to hurt her now.”

A few days back, Quark had already made public his opposition to his mom’s announced engagement.

“I’m not happy about it. In fact, I don’t think anyone outside of the two are,” Quark said in an interview, adding that, “But I love my mother and value her happiness above everything.”

He also took to Twitter to express his mind about the forthcoming wedding.

“Alas, I love my mom more than anyone else. So it doesn’t really matter if I like u. If you hurt her again, there will be blood,” read his tweet, which was aired on “SNN.”

Quark is mulling the idea of taking a vacation in the US, where he is also supposed to study for "maybe two years," as reported early in June. But his mom’s engagement seems to be one of the reasons he wants to be away.

“Yes, maybe. Yeah, it’s a very tumultuous time... moment in the family. Okay, okay na rin,” he said.

Vicki announced her engagement to Hayden on June 28.

“The truth is we’re engaged. We’re engaged, yes. Pero matagal na kaming engaged,” related on “24 Oras.”

“Sa America ginawa (ang proposal) noong December. Nag-kneel down pa siya in fairness,” the beauty doctor added.
