MANILA, Philippines– The three-week vacation she had in Daniel Matsunaga’s native Brazil has opened the eyes of Heart Evangelista to the realities of life.

“It was an experience because I had to do a lot of things on my own,” Heart shared on “Showbiz Central,” July 17. "First time kong maglaba, first time kong mag-fill-up ng form sa airport.”

The couple took videos of their short vacation, from the airport to the airplane

to the many sights in Brazil.

“Favorite place ko siguro is the farm kasi para siyang 'The Simple Life,' gano’n. Ang dami kong naututunan. ‘Yung mga isda na ganyan kalaki small na ‘yon sa kanila. Ganyan, pero ganyan kataba.”

Daniel said he brought her to his grandfather's farm "so she can see something different."

They went fishing and Heart was surprised to see piranhas.

“She was really scared. It really did made a difference in her life,” Daniel said.

“Muntik na ako mahulog sa tubig na may mga crocodile so experience talaga siya para sa akin,” Heart shared.

Daniel related that his mom did a lot of cooking.

“A lot of masarap…..sobrang masarap,” he said.

Heart’s eating habit changed after sampling his mom’s cooking style.

“Dati hindi ako kumakain ng cucumber. Doon ang sarap-sarap ng cucumber. ‘Yung atis nila…..” Heart said while motioning how big it was.

She also learned to speak a bit of Daniel’s language – Portugese.

“Marunong na siyang magsalita ng Portugese ngayon kasi mahirap magsalita doon [kundi ka marunong mag-Portugese]. Lahat ng pamilya ko magsalita ng Portugese,” the Brapenese model said.

The actress recited, in Portugese, a sample of what she learned which means “Hey, Tita, how are you? I love you guys forever!” in English.

The couple denied speculations that they’re already engaged, with the proposal done in Brazil.

“We are friends pero hindi ngayon [ang proposal]. (Sa) Future na lang,” Daniel said.

“Wala, walang engagement na naganap,” Heart clarified.

The short respite, Heart said, was an experience of a lifetime as “they really took care of me. There are times that I really felt down there pero talagang pinasaya nila ako. When it was time to return to the Philippines, umiyak kaming dalawa. It was very sad but again it’s okay kasi next year I’ll be going there again. We’ll see them for sure,” Heart said.

“There will be more times in the future of course to go back there and hopefully

soon kasi three weeks (is) very short,” Daniel explained.
