LONDON - Veteran actress Pilar Pilapil is currently shooting her first independent film outside the Philippines, and her first movie project after the Marikina carjacking attack.

Her physical looks did not yield any trace of having sustained seven stab wounds during a carjacking incident last April.

ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau caught her during a dream sequence of a ballroom dancing scene for the movie "Leona Calderon", the combined story of three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in London, one of whom is afflicted with cancer, but needs to support her relatives back home by scavenging and begging for money and goods.

During an exclusive interview, Pilapil was very evasive when asked about her case now pending before the court.

She does not want to tackle nor remember the past but said she leaves everything to God.

For Pilapil, her being a born again Christian gave her a second chance in life.

The talent fee for Pilapil in the film is free or pro bono, her commitment to a school project by students of the University of Greenwich that included her friend and indie film director Joey Morel.

Some of the scenes in "Leona Calderon" were already shot in Malapascua Island in Cebu.

Pilapil is hoping she can get an international award for her role, admitting it's the most challenging role she has ever had.

Morel believes the movie is not only for OFWs to see, but for all Filipinos especially those with relatives abroad who are working.

Pilapil's co-star in the film is noted British actress Virginia McKenna, who starred in the classic film "Born Free".
