MANILA, Philippines - King of Talk Boy Abunda announced his intention to run for a gubernational position in Eastern Samar in 2016.

Abunda made the announcement on Thursday after he was appointed as the senior political adviser of Ladlad party-list.

Abunda, known for his controversial interviews and opinions, has no experience in politics.

In fact, his appointment by the party-list group Ladlad as senior political adviser is his first foray into politics.

"We need to boost its chances to win in 2013, otherwise, we will lose official accreditation," said Abunda who joined Ladlad last April after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the group as a party worthy of accreditation.

He added: "We have to intensify the fight for the rights of the gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual community."

But the TV host and talent manager vehemently denied the issue that he is interested to be the next nominee of Ladlad for Congress.

Abunda insisted that he will be more effective as a campaign strategist for Ladlad. The group vowed to push for the anti-discrimination bill and the anti-vagrancy law.

In 2008, Abunda's friend Kris Aquino said that she is willing to give everything to finance the campaign of Abunda if he ever decides to run for public office.

"Seriously and honestly, kung ano man ang mamanahin ko at kung ano man ang pwede naming isanla to fund your campaign, I will do it," Aquino said on "The Buzz."

In her statement, Aquino said that she would really like it if the King of Talk would decide to serve the public.

Aquino admitted that losing her house would affect her, but she is willing to do it just for Abunda's candidacy.

Abunda worked with Aquino in "The Buzz" and the defunct morning show "Boy and Kris.” -- Report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
